The People of Property: DIFC

Posted On: 11 02 2019

One of the most important things when considering where to buy or rent a property is the opportunity to get a sense of the environment from people who actually live there. There are so many stunning properties across Dubai, but finding the right one for you can be a challenge. We decided to do an exclusive series that takes a look at the people behind the property. We have sat down with long-term residences of a selection of locations to find out what their experience is of their community and why they choose to make it their home. This week we are interviewing Adam, who has lived in DIFC for 13 years.

Hi Adam, thank you so much for sitting down with us. So, you live in the bustling DIFC, what is that like?

It’s fantastic! I’ve been here for 13 years now and I wouldn’t want to live anywhere else. It feels like I live right in the middle of the city and am surrounded by all the important events and opportunities!

What type of property do you live in?

I bought a stunning 3 bedroom penthouse in Index Tower about 4 years ago. It is spacious and modern and has the most unforgettable view from its private roof terrace. Every day when I come back from work, I like to sit out there and watch the world go by beneath me. I also have my own swimming pool which I can do laps in. Thanks to that and my gym, I can stay fit and healthy.

So what do you like most about living in DIFC?

The accessibility and the atmosphere. I work in a leading multi-national corporation which requires long hours, ambitious dedication and lots of networking. Being able to get to work so quickly and be right in amongst some of the finest locations in the city makes socialising and client entertaining super easy. I have actually managed to close several deals whilst in Zuma (possibly thanks to their amazing black cod!).

What sort of things do you get up to during the weekend?

Usually I will spend Friday morning catching up on the work emails I didn’t manage to get to during the week, which then allows me to relax more for the rest of the weekend. I will always have a session with my trainer, which luckily we can do in the house. Then it will be a mix of lunches out with friends, checking out the latest hot restaurants in the evening and on Saturdays a bike ride out into the desert – I am training for next year’s race.

What is your favourite thing about property in DIFC?

The range of options and the attention to luxury. I have lived here for 13 years, but I have lived in six different apartments during that time. Each of them have their own distinct style, but they never compromise on luxury or convenience. Buying property in DIFC is also such a fantastic investment – with its position and population, this is one of the most secure and profitable locations for Dubai property. That is why it was such an easy decision to purchase my luxury penthouse a few years ago.

If you had to live anywhere else in Dubai, where would it be?

Although I can see the ocean from my penthouse, the only other place I would consider living would be a beach front villa on Palm Jumeirah, so I could swim in the ocean every morning. But, to be honest, I love DIFC way too much.
